There is sweet grass burning at the entrance of the Amskapi Piikani Sundance ceremony lodge. It is there to smudge yourself as you enter the space. Your feet, your body, your head. Pour the smoke over you, as if you are bathing. The spirits do not want to come around us if we are not smudged, it is a way of cleansing. (Ink & colored pencils on late 1800's Ledger Paper)
