Ma'ii, the trickster coyote, has a place in many of our traditional stories. This story in particular, he was helping place the stars in the night sky and he quickly became impatient with this important task. He quickly grabs the blanket and flings it, thus scattering the remaining stars to form the milky way and random stars.
