Ho'zho' Over Burque

The Rufous hummingbird is considered the more feisty of the hummingbirds as it is a bit more aggressive in nature. Therefore if one has a hummingbird feeder or several in their yard, the feeders need to be placed at different levels of height to accommodate them. A feeder placed at a higher level than the others is a better option for the Rufous hummingbirds. I had used several pieces of my artwork in a billboard proposal with three organizations and this particular piece was chosen. It is currently up as of December 2024 along Central Avenue in Albuquerque, NM. The major cross streets are Carlisle and Central. Fun facts. In 1907, the street known as Railroad Avenue was renamed Central Avenue. Route 66 was established in 1926. In 1937, the alignment of Route 66 was redirected to run east and west along Central Avenue instead of the original alignment which ran north and south using Fourth Street. Ho'zho' is a Dine' (Navajo) word which is the most important and complex word in our language. It is loosely translated as Peace, Beauty, Balance and Harmony. It is a complex wellness philosophy and belief system comprised of principles that guide one's thoughts, actions, behaviors and speech. As the title implies, Ho'zho' over Burque, I consider it a prayer and blessing to cover everyone as the Rufous flies high above. Dimensions: 12" x 12" overall Ink on heavy weight paper with a chipboard backing and packaged in a plastic sleeve.
