Undulating lines on a sea-green background evoke a calm feeling and symbolize the Water Spirit from the Potawatomi tradition. 20”x24”. This piece was inspired by the Fall salmon run in the river near my home. It's a sacred journey these fish make, one that in years past could be assumed would never change. But, as we see the changes in climate and the negative impacts that modern life is making on the health of our waterways, the voyage the salmon make as part of their instinctual life cycle is threatened. Creatures in the natural world understand and respect their place amongst all of creation. It begs the question: when will we, the human beings, remember this?
